Consent Form

   You have been invited to take part in a research study to learn more about the possible relationship between the information sources used by first-generation Chinese immigrants in the United States and their opinion on local socio-political events. This study will be conducted by Stella Ye, CAS - College of Arts & Science, New York University.
    您已被邀请参与下述的本科论文研究项目,其宗旨在于学习一代华裔美国移民对信息来源的选择是否会影响他们对特定美国社会政治事件的看法。这篇研究由纽约大学文理学院的Stella Ye负责。

   Before you continue reading, please make sure that you meet the following participation requirement:

         1. You are older than or equal to 18 years old;
             法定年龄达到18岁或以上。
         2. You are a first-generation Chinese American (The criteria for first-generation Chinese immigrants in this study will include US citizen, lawful permanent resident (green card holder), and individuals who do not belong to the previous two criteria but have been living in the US for more than two years and continue to have intension for long-term residency).
            是常住美国的第一代华裔移民(移民的定义标准符合以下任何一条类别皆可:①法定美国公民 ②法定永久居住者/绿卡持有者 ③情况不符合①②,但已经在美国本土居住两年以上,并仍保持未来长久居住的打算)


   If you agree to be in this study, you will be asked to complete an online survey about your background (age, gender, education, etc.), the information sources that you use on a daily basis, and your thoughts on a specific social-political event in the United States. Each survey will take about 3 minutes to complete. Note that if you demonstrate at the end of the survey that you are interested in attending another interview section, you might be chosen to take part in a short one-on-one online interview that further investigate your choices on information sources and your attitude towards the specific social-political event. Choosing to participate in the interview section will reveal your contact information only to the researcher. If you have no interest in the interview, you response to the survey will remain fully anonymous.
   如若您符合条件并有意参与学术研究,在接下来的简短调查问卷中,您将会回答一系列有关您的基本个人背景(年龄、性别、教育水平等)以及日常常用的信息来源的选择题。填写完整篇问卷大约需要2~3分钟。请留意问卷的最后一题会询问您是否有意参加后续与研究人员的一对一在线访谈(意在进一步收集您对信息来源的选择方式以及对于特定社会政治事件的态度,总时长约持续30~40分钟,会给每位受访人提供20美元酬金),如果您对此感兴趣并依要求填写了联系方式,您或许会在不久后收到研究人员的跟进联系。只有学者本人会看到您的联系信息,而在您无意参与访谈的情况下,您对问卷的全部回答将完全保持匿名。

   Although you will receive no direct benefits, this research may help the investigator understand the potential relationship between Chinese immigrants’ information sources and their opinion on local socio-political events. Confidentiality of your research records will be strictly maintained. Your information from this study will not be used for future research. Participation in this study is voluntary. You may refuse to participate or withdraw at any time without penalty.
   填写问卷本身不会带给您直接收益,不过它所产生的研究结果或许能够帮助研究人员更深入地认识华裔移民的信息来源与他们理解时事的角度之间的潜在联系。您的个人隐私将会被严格保密,本次研究中获取的个人信息将不会在后日用于任何其他研究。此外,此次研究是自愿参与的,您可以在任何时候选择退出,不会有任何后果。
